BLOSSOMING MAKEUP FACE OF THE DAY!

Hey Blossoms,

Soo excited to bring to you all my BLOSSOMING MAKEUP FACE OF THE DAY! In these posts, I'll share with you all the different makeup looks I wear on a day to day basis and the actual products that I use! Feel free to use your own dupes(comparable/similar/look alike) products from your own makeup. This post is just to have fun. Feel free to leave questions, comments or suggestions. I'm eager to hear all of your opinions. Remember there's no one definitive way to apply makeup do whats most comfortable for you and use products which best suites you! Now let's get started!....

So today's look is featuring 4 eyeshadows from Urban Decay's Book of Shadows III: NEW YORK! Absolutely love this eyeshadow palette and I'll be sure to do a review!

So first I applied UD's Eyeshadow Primer Potion to both eyelids generously and blended it out to a smooth finish to prevent creasing. I then used UD's 24/7 eye pencils in RANSOM (purple color) and penciled in to just below the crease of both eyes and I blended the colors out so that there were no visible lines of demarcation. I added UD's eyeshadow in PSYCHEDELIC SISTER (shimmery purple) to my entire eyelid and blended it out up to my crease. I added UD's eyeshadow in ROCKSTAR(deep satin purple) to my outer V and about 1/3 into the end of my eyelid. I blended both colors together. I added UD's MAUI WOWIE(shimmery creme color) just below my browbone and blended down. I used UD's PERVERSION(matte black) in my crease. I blended this well as this color(well all the colors really) are higly pigmented! As you can tell the key is to BLEND! BLEND! BLEND! To finish the look off I added UD's 24/7 eye pencils in ZERO(blackest black) to my upper and lower waterlines, set that with PERFUSION and then added liquid eyeliner to the top lash line, flasies and gel eyeliner to clean it all up with just a touch of mascara! And VIOLA....... here's the look! I hope you like it!...

In this photo the falsies really stand out making the look more dramatic.

In this photo I show how seamlessly I applied the falsies to my lash line.
In this photo I show how the highlight of the brow bone  is really accentuated.
In this photo I wanted to show the outer V and how well all 4 eyeshadows blend into each other.

EGYPTIAN INSPIRED MUMO

Hey Blossoms,

I'm a tad bit late with this post but better let than never. A MUMO is a MakeUp MakeOver. So, this past Halloween my friend asked me to create a makeup look for her to wear to her costume party thrown by her company, Erotic Blue Ent: an entertainment company that specializes in marketing, promotions and events. Check out her website for upcoming events and inquiries on marketing or promotional work at www.eroticblueent.com

For her costume she was going to be Queen of the Nile. So I decided the makeup look should be Egyptian inspired. I envisioned golds, shimmer, a golden glow and intensity. I also got use of my Temptu airbrush system and airbrushed on her foundation to a nice flawless finish.

As usual I forgot to take a before photo but here's a photo that was taken right after the foundation was airbrushed.

I used Temptu's S/B (silicone based) foundation. Which is absolutely fantastic as its non transferable(think: wont rub off on that special guy you go to hug or kiss) S/B foundation is a big hit among women who want long-lasting flawless makeup for their special events, proms, weddings, bridal showers, bachlorette parties, engagement parties or corporate events. As you can see the foundation looks very natural and is extremely light weight it feels as if nothing is on your face!

I filled in her brows a little as she had already had them shaped and I added gold, bronze, and then black eye shadow, falsies for a more dramatic look, golden tinted blush and shimmery nude lipgloss. The end result was superb, especially when she donned the headpiece that she was to wear with her costume for the night. She also had her hair cut into a cute bob! Very Egyptian like! See for yourself!

WOW!, what a transformation from an everyday women to Queen of the Nile! She had a fantastic time at the costume party and absolutely loved the makeup look. It not only lasted all night, through hugs, cheek kisses, and dancing but it remained just as radiant and glowing as it had been right when it was applied hours before the party had even started. She danced the night away from 10pm to 4am and the makeup was applied around 6pm. A true Queen if you ask me! Here are a few photos from the party...

She was such a great sport and truly made the costume come "alive". The Queen of the Nile reincarnated! For me she was a happy client and my job is done(until next time!). Thanks for reading Blossoms, more MUMOs to come.

BLUE IS THE NEW BLACK!

Hey Blossoms,

So today I wanted to introduce you guys to something edgy and fun: ELECTRIC BLUE MASCARA! Ok I know your thinking who would want blue eyelashes!! Wait, watch and let me explain. Blue mascara makes eyes POP!,its flattering on ANY eye color, especially blue eyes and brown eyes.

Blue mascara first came onto the makeup scene as a fad and has since sealed its fate as if it were the classic black mascara. Blue mascara comes in different shades of blue as well as in types just like black mascara. There is blue mascara that lengthens, separates and adds volume. I prefer separation as I already have long and full lashes.

Blue mascara comes in 3 shades: navy blue, royal blue, electric blue. Navy blue is known as an eye brightener it reflects the whites of your eyes and looks as close to black as any colored mascara, royal blue is a little more noticeable on the lashes and goes great if you just want a little color at the tip of your lashes, and electric blue is bold and beautiful for a full effect of blue mascara this is the one! Blue mascara does not look clownish at all, its different and vibrant. I absolutely adore it!

So Blossoms, blue mascara is Sherry Blossom Approved! Go to your nearest makeup counter and get one! I didn't list which blue mascara to get because frankly mascara is mascara to me. So I don't want to make any of you biased to any one type,go out and try different ones and see which one(s) you like. As i mentioned above depending on whether you want to add volume, lengthen or separate will ultimately help you pick the mascara that's best for you.

THE MARY JANE MODELS

I freelanced at a gig where I was one of 5 makeup artists. We were there to make up the Mary Jane models for that nights event where they were to pick 4 new Mary Jane Model members. I made up 2 models.

They were beautiful women and very high spirited. The excitement for who would join their team of models that night was definitely permeating the room. The atmosphere was definitely that of nightlife. So many models trafficking in an out of the make up area, outfit changes and alterations, everyone talking at once, laughter, jokes and lots of smiling. The makeup artist were busy at work fixing and primping and powdering and anything else that needed to be done to make these ladies look even more fabulous. I took a few digi cam photos and it captured some of the beauty for a full effect you definitely had to be there in person.

This gig was really fun. It allowed for a massive amount of creativity. The idea was to make the ladies looks "POP" with color & creativity! Nothing was off limits.

The ladies were good sports too allowing their faces to be a canvas for such abstractness. The end result was definitely sexy! A night we will all remember. Big thanks to those ladies for allowing me to take photographs of them for my personal use. And whats a gig without the famous makeup artist and client picture(thank goodness I remembered I usually forget or the client leaves as you can tell from the pictures she was just about to walk out the door!) I was so excited I had remembered that I to grab 2 photos!

Thanks for reading about this fun event. Many more gigs and pictures to follow. If you have any questions, comments or suggestions feel free to email me or leave them below. Later, Blossoms

WHAT TYPE OF EYES DO YOU HAVE?

OK, I admit my favorite feature on a person is their eyes. Big eyes, little eyes, dark colored eyes. light colored eyes, cat shaped eyes and rounded eyes. I love them all!

Let's jump right into the different types of eyes there are in reference to makeup and makeup application:

Small Eyes: Eyes like these can be tricky when it comes to eyeshadows and eyeliners. Placement is what will be important. NEVER use dark colored pencil eyeliner, gel eyeliner or powdered eyeliner along the upper lash line(where the upper eyelashes are) or lower lash line(where the bottom eyelashes are). Doing so would close the eyes more making them appear smaller. If your an eyeliner lover another trick you can do is place the eyeliner along the outermost corner of the eye(aka outer V) and wing it up or back. Similar to creating a cat eye. This will make the eye seem a little bigger.

Close set Eyes: Eyes like these are accentuated best when a lighter color is placed in the innermost corner of the eye(near tear duct and nose) with a darker color in the outer V. This gives the closeness of the eyes the illusion that there's more space between them. Darker colors in the innermost corner will just make your eyes seem even closer. The key here is to always brighten your eyes up, mystery is good but lets keep the darkness away from your face.

Bulging Eyes: Eyes like these can appear even bigger with light or pastel shadows on the eyelid. The key is tho definitely embrace your dark colored eyeshadows and eyeliners. The dark colors will under-emphasize the bulging of the eyes and EMPHASIZE the eye itself..

Deep set Eyes: Eyes like these give off that mysterious look. That can be difficult when it comes to choosing which eyeshadows are best. It doesn't have to be. The rule of thumb with eyes like these is to use LIGHT colors on the eyelids! Using darker colors on the eyelids will shadow the area around the eye even more.

Wide set Eyes: Eyes like these fare well with dark colored shadows and eyeliners, especially in the innermost corner. Placing it here will bring the eyes "closer" together.

Droopy Eyes: Eyes like these can work best when a winged liner look is used. When applying any eyeliner make sure its winged (drawn upwards) at the outer V. This will make the eyes seem "lifted".

Let's also discuss the different types of EYELIDS:

Mature eyelids: These lids may be wrinkled, or have some saggy skin, or even crows feet on the edges and may even be very dry making eyeshadow application difficult. The key here is to hydrate the eye using a light moisterizer or even an eye cream. Using products with Retin-A (anti-aging agent) or firming complexes is best. Matte eyeshadow colors are best they will adhere to the eye better and an eyeshadow primer should definitely be used. Steer clear of creamy eyeshadows as the uneven surface of the eyelid will make that form of shadow crease

The above diagram was provided by Google. There are many many many eye shapes. I will definitely have another post discussing more shapes and flattering eyeshadow/eyeliner applications. We will also move into eyebrow shapes, lip shapes and the shapes of faces in general and how each can affect your makeup placement. stay tuned for that. Leave and questions or comments below, rate and follow me if you like. THANKS!

SHERRY BLOSSOM BEAUTY

So I've finally arrived! Blog World! LOL

A little background on me. My name is Sherry. I'm a budding freelance makeup artist and makeup/beauty blogger. I've always been a writer more specifically a poet. I never thought this is what I would wind up doing for the world to see but here I am! I've never been happier.

First I'm not a makeup expert, guru, fashionista or the greatest there ever was. I'm a regular person that just loves makeup and being a makeup artist. I am an "everyday woman". That's what I'm shaping this blog around and that's what type of service I'm providing as a makeup artist. Let me explain, an "everyday woman" is all of you. Working women, homemakers, mothers, married women, single women, young women, old women, urban/city women, suburban women, college student women, women who drive, women who take the bus/train, local women, all shapes, colors and sized women. I'm here for you because I am just like you. There isnt anything so extraordinary about me. I'm not super rich, famous or even super popular. That's what I love! I can relate to all of you as blog followers, bloggers yourselfs or even clients!

I remember when I first grew a love for makeup and how it felt so overwhelming. I would google and youtube different things and would be bamboozled by products, brand names, websites, articles, photos, reviews, blogs, videos, comments and stories from different places and people. I would feel disconnected like maybe I was in way over my head. I couldn't even afford most of the things I liked and forget being able to afford a makeup artist to do my makeup for me! It was then that I wished there was someone out there like me, someone who understood that everyday women want to look and feel beautiful as well. That's when I decided I would become that woman! The above quotes summarizes it all, I can make you up flawlessly and beautifully ,but if you don't feel it within nothing else will matter. I'm here to help you not only feel great and beautiful on the inside but the outside. I genuinely care about each and every supporter, fan or client. You all help make me who I am and I thank you!

So guess what this is all for you! We are going to have fun! Ask me any questions and I'll answer, if I don't have an answer I will find it for you and post it expeditiously. Email me or leave a comment and I'll write back. Offer suggestions or even insight on anything dealing with beauty or even women as a whole. We learn something new everyday and I want to learn from all of you. I can't wait! Let's get started!
